Pelvic Health Summit: Rosita Arvigo

Rosita Arvigo, DN

Who is Rosita Arvigo?

I have such vivid memories of our beloved Rosita Arvigo teaching with such conviction and emphasis. When studying with her, I truly hung on her every word, and took it is ancient wisdom meeting our modern world.

Rosita is an elder and wisdom keeper who has my utmost respect and honor. Rosita lives in Belize and studied with the last living Maya Shaman, Don Elijio. If you want a heartwarming story about her journey of learning with Don Elijio, check out her book, Sastun. It is a delightful and pretty quick read.

I was still in the thick of pelvic pain, when a dear friend suggested I look into Maya Abdominal Massage. I had never heard of it. I looked it up and registered for a weekend long Self Care class that was taught by one of Rosita’s students.

Where is your womb?

When the teacher began to talk about the position of the womb in relationship to the other pelvic organs, I had an “aha” moment. I knew to the core, that part of my problem was indeed this. My womb was tilted, and that was creating a cascade of issues in my body. I did my self care massage, which I continue 15 years later to practice and teach my clients, and all the other complementary modalities that were recommended.

A disclaimer: I do not wish to minimize or dilute any of our healing journeys. I believe our tilted wombs are a physical manifestation of all kinds of experiences in our lives that have had impact on our psyches and bodies.

I live in gratitude everyday...

After day one of the three day class, I registered for the Professional Care Training. And by the end of the Professional Care Training, I decided to quit graduate school and pursue a career in Maya Abdominal Massage and general abdominal and pelvic health and wellness. I had no idea where it would bring me!

After all the work I had done to this point, this practice is what got me out of chronic pain. After nearly two years of living in pain that was often triggered by specific foods and penetrative sex and urinating, which I did frequently, I was starting to have days of being able to sleep through the night and wake up without pain, days of moving through the day without pain. I had almost lost hope that I could experience both neutrality and pleasure AND be out of chronic pain. The ever extending moments of ease in my pelvic bowl were giving me hope.

After having struggled with chronic and severe pelvic pain for nearly two years, I was finally out of pain, AND on a career path that gave me purpose and inspiration.

Rosita has bridged this work to us, and because of this, helped thousands upon thousands of us to regain health and balance. She is in her eighties and has so much wisdom to share. It is a true gift that she is coming to share with us at the summit. It is worth its weight in gold to have the opportunity to listen to Rosita.

The summit is virtual, live and recorded, so you can attend in real time, live, though if you cannot make all of it live, you will receive the recordings and have lifetime access!
